Abstract: Elongator complex, as an important part of elongating RNA polymerasesII (RNAPII) holoenzyme, had the histone acetyltransferase (HAT) Elp3 subunit. It could bind tightly with the hyperphosphorylated form of RNAPII. Evidence showed that Elongator complex plays a crucial role in transcription elongation through chromatin templates; it was the first HAT complex that was found to participate in the transcription elongation. Here we introduced the discovery and a dvances in studies of Elongator complex.
