Progress in Medical Cell Biology Teaching Reform Practices in the New Era: a Study and Discussion

The in-depth advancement of the “comprehensive health” concept and the construction of “new medicine” have given rise to new demands of the times for the cultivation of medical talents—demands that are all-round, interdisciplinary, and innovative. Medical cell biology, serving as a pivotal nexus between basic and clinical medicine, plays a vital role in the cultivation of medical talents. However, traditional teaching—in terms of content, pedagogical models, technology, and assessment and evaluation—struggles to meet the new demands of medical talent cultivation in the new era and is in urgent need of reform. This paper reviews and studies the contemporary context and intrinsic demands of medical cell biology teaching reform in China in recent years, focusing on the progress and characteristics of reform practices in the new era in terms of teaching content optimization, innovation in pedagogical models, new technology empowerment, and improvements in assessment and evaluation. Furthermore, it analyzes the problems and difficulties that remain in the reform practice and, combining Air Force Medical University’s reform experience, discusses the breakthrough directions for future teaching reform, aiming to provide theoretical reference and practical guidance for the curriculum construction and teaching reform of medical cell biology in the new era.
