Abstract: Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) is a family of proteins that are highly expressed in eukaryotic cells and diffusely distributed in the nucleus. Various hnRNP proteins share similar structural characteristics and play a variety of functions in regulation of gene expression, including transcription, pre-mRNA splicing, mRNA export and mRNA decay. In this review, we briefly summarize the recent progresses regarding the function of hnRNP in pre-mRNA processing.
