Abstract: The aflatoxin biosynthetic pathway regulatory gene plays a key role in the production of aflatoxin, and it is required for the expression of most aflatoxin pathway genes. In the promoter of the aflatoxin biosynthetic pathway regulatory gene, there exist some putative binding sites for homologs of fungal transcription factors. The AflR protein acts as a main positive transcription factor in the aflatoxin biosynthetic pathway, and the AflR protein can modulate the expression of most aflatoxin pathway genes including its own gene.
