Abstract: Calcium signals mediate a multitude of plant responses to external stimuli and regulate a wide range of physiological processes. CBL, a new family of Ca2+ sensors, were defined in plants. These proteins interact with their target proteins named as CBL-interacting protein kinase (CIPK). In this review, we introduce the system of CBL-CIPK and the role of this system in decoding the specific signal of Ca2+.
