Abstract: Growth hormone receptor (GHR) is a member of cytokine/hematopoietin receptor superfamily. The dimerization of two GHRs binding to growth hormone (GH) is the initiating step of signal transduction. It rapidly phosphorylates Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) to activate four different pathways into cells and elicit various physiological effects in vivo. This review introduces the structure characteristic and tissue distributions of GHR, and discusses GHR-media signal transduction.
