Abstract:

ADAMTS-12 (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif-12) is a multi-domain metalloproteinase, which is different from other members of the family known for degradation of extracellular matrix. More and more reports have found that ADAMTS-12 plays a dual role in tumor inhibition and tumor promotion. In addition to playing a proteolytic enzyme function, the split products of ADAMTS-12 protein are often involved in cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions, and is the key regulation factor in the tumor development. This review summarizes the structure, functions and mechanism of ADAMTS12 in tumor inhibition and tumor promoting, so as to provide a new idea for the targeted therapy of tumor.
