Abstract:
Pyroptosis is a programmed cell necrosis mediated by GSDMD (gasdermin D) activated by inflammatory caspase-1/-4/-5/-11, which is characterized by cell swelling, rupture, release of contents and strong inflammatory response, inducing cell death. With the in-depth study, pyroptosis is found to be closely related to the occurrence and development of many viral diseases. This paper reviews the mechanism of pyroptosis and its role in the occurrence and development of viral diseases.
