Abstract: The molecular mechanism of the sperm-oocyte plasma membrane fusion during fertilization has been investigated in recent years. Development of gene targeting and application of new technologies allow us to identify the molecules involved in fertilization processes. Recent studies are focusing on CD9, Glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored proteins and integrins on oocyte surface. This paper summarizes the results and the related experiments on these three moleculesat at celluar and molecular levels.
