Abstract: The secreted frizzled related protein 1 (SFRP1) gene, which is located on chromosome 8p11.2, has recently been demonstrated to be a new tumor suppressor gene. Since SFRP1 gene encodes a Wnt signaling antagonist, it causes deregulation of Wnt signaling by inactivation, and finally affects human tumorigenesis and progression. A series of researches about the inactive mechanism of SFRP1 in human malignancies have been done in recent years, and now we review them in this article.
