Abstract: With the advancement of science and technology, people are exposed to more and more magnetic fields. Therefore, the effects of magnetic fields on human bodies have drawn increasing public attention. Although the impacts of radio frequency and power frequency magnetic fields generated by cell phones and high-voltage power lines on human bodies are still inconclusive, a large number of studies have found that medium intensity static magnetic fields and extremely low frequency rotating magnetic fields are not harmful to human cells, and might even have some beneficial effects on human bodies. This review briefly summarizes the biological effects of static magnetic fields, and focuses on the biological effects of extremely low frequency of below 20 Hz, moderate intensity rotating magnetic fields generated by permanent magnets, which are still in their infancy but have shown some clinical potentials.
