Abstract: The STAT (signal transducer and activator of transcription) proteins are transcription factors that mediate cytokine/growth factor signaling. STAT1 is one of the most important members of STAT protein family, which mainly plays important roles in regulating thecell growth, differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis by signaling pathway of JAK-STAT. STAT1 is widely regarded as a tumor suppressor gene because of the function of inhibiting cell growth and promoting apoptosis. This review will summarize the relationship between STAT1 and tumor, and to further propose the prospects of tumor therapy.
