Abstract: Members of the tripartite motif (TRIM) protein family are found in all multicellular eukaryotes.Genes of TRIM family are enormously studied, because they are essential for regulating cell cycle, apoptosis, differentation, metabolism and response to virus. However, researchers are now focused on their roles in cancer development. This review discussed the biological functions of TRIMs protein, including biological function as ubiquitin E3 ligases, regulation of nuclear receptors and the p53 pathway, to illuminated the relationship between TRIM proteins and tumorigenesis and cancer progression.
