Abstract: To investigate the proliferating effects of extract of ginkgo biloba (EGB) on bovine aortic endothelial cells (BAECs) and relevant mechanism, BAECs were incubated with EGB, and the effects of EGB on BAECs proliferation were investigated by MTT assay, and cell cycle analysis by flow cytometry. Potential involvement of signaling pathways of the effects was explored by using related inhibitors of the signal molecules. And the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) was investigated by Western blot. And the results are that EGB markedly promoted BAECs proliferation. Our results also revealed that the effects were significantly attenuated by inhibitors of eNOS, and EGB markedly stimulated the expression of eNOS. EGB markedly promote endothelial cell proliferation, and the effects are mediated by eNOS.
