Abstract: Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of human death in the world, which is also the major cause for loss of life expectancy. A great number of studies have been carried out to delineate the underlying mechanisms through epidemiological, pathophysiological or molecular methods, and have made significant progress. With the rapid development of genetic and bioinformatical technologies, recent studies have found that the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) is closely associated with the development, prognosis, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. This review summarizes the current state of knowledge about the association between lncRNA and cardiovascular disease, which may help the readers understand the important roles of lncRNA in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease.
