Abstract: BURP protein family is comprised of a number of plant-specific proteins that share a conserved BURP domain at the C-terminus. These proteins are involved in various biological processes and play important roles in the stress response of plants. In this paper, the structural features and the classification of BURP proteins are briefly introduced. Meanwhile, the expression patterns of BURP under different abiotic stresses, the cellular localization of BURP proteins and their function in plant in response to abiotic stresses are reviewed.
