Chalcone Synthase Gene

Abstract: Chalcone synthase gene is one of the key genes in phenylpropanoids pathway for producing flavonoids， isoflavonoids， anthocyanin and other secondary metabolism products in plants. It plays important roles in the physiological and biochemic progress of pigment synthesis， defense response and plant fertility. In this article， we reviewed the role of chalcone synthase in phenylpropanoids pathway and its progress in expression pattern， function characters and evolution of chalcone synthase genes.
