Abstract: Calponin family includes calponin (CaP) and smooth muscle 22 alpha (SM22α), which is characterized by an calponin homology (CH) domain and one or more copies of calponin-like repeat (CLR). As actin-binding protein, CaP and SM22α are associated with actin cytoskeleton remodelling via interacting with F-actin, and are involved in the regulation of cellular biological behaviour in physiological and pathological conditions.
