Abstract: The ubiquitin-proteasome pathway is involved in the degradation of proteins and it's regarded as an important mechanism in controlling many physiological events of cells. Recent years, great progresses on ubiquitin liagses, which act as substrate-specific regulator, have been achieved in the nervous system. In this article, we reviewed recent advances of the ubiquitin ligases in neural development, neural function and nervous system diseases. Further work in this area will hold great promise toward the understanding of life science and treatment of a wide range of neurodegenerative diseases.
