Abstract: Myostatin (MSTN), a member of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily, is a negative regulator of the skeletal muscle growth by suppressing the proliferation and differentiation of myoblast. In this study, MSTN is up-regulated by basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in a dose and time-point dependent manner. Moreover, MAPK signal pathway is found to partially participate in the effect on Myostatin gene expression induced by bFGF.
