Abstract: Autophagy is one of self-protection mechanisms that ubiquitously exists in eukaryotes. With the participation of autophagy-related proteins, autophagy forms complete and complex phagocytosis mechanism as well as self-regulation mechanism. Except for its function in maintaining homeostasis, autophagy can also recognize invaders such as human herpes virus, and then remove them away. Human herpes virus is worldwide pathogen that causes universal infection. During long-term mutual adaptation with host, human herpes virus has evolved extremely robust strategies to destroy and block the clearance function of autophagy.
