Abstract: Genome editing refers to the experimental technique which could modify the DNA sequence at a certain region in the genome. It has important application value in studying the function of genes, as well as gene correction and cell replacement therapy. In this paper, we summarize the recent progress and application of genome editing technology, with emphasis on two sequence-specific nucleases — TALEN and CRISPR/Cas.
