Abstract: Cell polarity is crucial for the generation of cell diversity. Dynamin, a large GTPase, functions in both endocytosis and actin dynamics. Here, the C. elegans dynamin ortholog, DYN-1, maintains anterior polarity cues. dyn-1 was amplified from C. elegans cDNA by PCR and cloned into an expression vector and a RNA interference vector. The effects of dyn-1 on lifespan of N2, daf-2(e1370) and daf-16(e1038) were studied by RNAi. The lifespans of N2, daf-2(e1370) and daf-16(e1038) were shortened significantly. In this study, we also observed sterility and embryonic lethality in the dyn-1 RNAi-treated worms.
