Abstract: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs more than 200 nucleotides in length, which have the functions of gene expression regulations. Recent studies showed that lncRNAs are emerging as new players in the cancer paradigm demonstrating potential roles in both oncogenic and tumor suppressive pathways. They take part in regulations of apoptosis, tumor invasion and metastasis. Besides, they affect tumor cell growth through epigenetic regulations. As the possible novel tumor markers and targets for the treatments of cancers, lncRNAs show a good prospect for the clinical applications in the diagnosis and treatments of several types of cancers.
