Abstract: Autophagy, a cellular self-degradation process, is crucial for metabolic stress, genomic integrity and cellular homeostasis. The levels of autophagic activity are different in diverse tumors. Autophagy plays important roles at different stages of tumorigenesis and cancer progression. In this review, we discussed the molecular mechanisms of autophagy and the implication of autophagy in human cancer.
