Role of Cytokines in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Abstract: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which mainly includes Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), represents a group of idiopathic diseases characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Cytokines play an important role in intestine inflammation and mucosal immune response of IBD, and have become a hot research in the pathogenesis of IBD. The role of cytokines in IBD will be introduced in this review.
