Recent Progress in the Study of Polo-like Kinase 4

Abstract: Polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4), a member of the Polo family of highly conserved serine/threonine kinases, has been identified as a key regulator of centriole duplication. PLK4 is mainly expressed in actively dividing tissues and cells, but not in resting ones, indicating a role in cell proliferation. In addition, PLK4 is also highly expressed in various cancer cells and is associated with tumorigenesis. In this article, recent findings related to PLK4 were summarized.
