Abstract: The β-globin gene family has been used as a model for study of gene expression and regulation in eukaryotic cells. These genes expressed specifically in erythroid tissue and differentially expressed in a precise temporal order during development. It has been shown that interaction of erythroid specific trans-acting factors with cis-acting elements may play an important role in regulation of globin gene expression. Here we mainly focus on introducing three erythroid specific factors of KLF family (EKLF, FKL and FKLF-2), including their structure, fuction and interaction with other trans-acting factors. Previous studies have revealed that they may be critical in the developmental regulation of globin gene expression.
