It has been widely recognized that flavonoids have a variety of biological activities including anti-inflammation, anti-oxidation and so on. Flavonoids have been demonstrated to be effective in protecting against several diseases such as cardiovascular and diabetes. As for the anti-tumor effect, flavonoids can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by inducing cell apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Because of the safety and low side effect rate, flavonoids attract more and more attention on the treatment of cancer. This study systematically summarizes the effects of flavonoids on leukemia, surrounding the induction of cell apoptosis, cell cycle arrest, antiangiogenesis and increase of reactive oxygen species.
