Abstract:

Synthetic biology is an interdisciplinary research field with the goal to create new functional cells and to get deep understanding of life system through ambitious re-designing and engineering biological systems. Synthetic biology could enable us to solve human challenges in future. The key component of Synthetic Biology is to make intelligent design of the biological system, allowing the test of important biological questions. This review summarizes the design technologies including those used in designing new biological parts, how to design genetic circuits and metabolic pathways as well as how to design synthetic genomes in synthetic biology.
