Polymorphism of Autophagy-related Genes and Crohn’s Disease

Abstract: Autophagy is the process that cells maintain normal cellular homeostasis by degrading longlived protein and damaged organelles. Recently， several Crohn’s disease associated genes have been identified by genome-wide association scan， including autophagy related gene ATG16L1 and IRGM. In this review， we summarized the role of autophagy deficiency in the pathogenesis of Crohn’s disease.
