Abstract: Autophagy is the process that cells maintain normal cellular homeostasis by degrading longlived protein and damaged organelles. Recently, several Crohn’s disease associated genes have been identified by genome-wide association scan, including autophagy related gene ATG16L1 and IRGM. In this review, we summarized the role of autophagy deficiency in the pathogenesis of Crohn’s disease.
