Abstract: High osmolarity glycerol mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway (HOG-MAPK pathway) of Saccharamyces cerevisiae is a highly conserved signaling pathway. It is similar to all MAPK pathways in eukaryotic cells. In hyperosmotic stress, the HOG-MAPK pathway regulates the signal transduction and expression of numerous genes for cell survival. This review summarized the regulative mechanism of gene expression, signal transduction, signal specificity and subcellular localization of the components in the HOG-MAPK pathway.
