Abstract: Eukaryotic translation initiation factors (eIFs) are a group of proteins that plays different roles in the initiation steps of protein synthesis in eukaryotic cells. Recent studies showed that in addition to their translation initiation roles, eIFs also play important roles in other processes such as tumor development and progression. This review focuses on recent achievements of eIFs research and their relationship with tumors.
