Abstract: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a kind of multipotential adult stem cells which have the potential of differentiation into osteoblasts. The osteogenic differentiation of MSCs is regulated by several signaling pathways, among which, TGF-β/BMPs, Wnt and MAPK pathways may play significant roles. Furthermore, Wnt and MAPK pathways can modulate the TGF-β/BMPs signaling by the regulation of the proteasomal of Smad1. Recent studies indicate that differentiation of MSCs into osteoblasts is accurately regulated under many of the related signaling pathways. This review discuss recent advances in the TGF-β/BMPs , Wnt and MAPK signaling pathways involved in the differentiation of MSCs.
