Abstract:

“Cell Biology” is a core foundational course for achieving the goal of “cultivating high-level application-oriented and innovative talents” in the bioengineering major at universities. It is characterized by a large amount of content, rapid updates of frontier knowledge, and complex knowledge network structures. In response to issues in students’ learning, such as insufficient mastery of theoretical knowledge, insufficient classroom interaction, and inadequate practical training, the course is grounded in the educational concept of “integration of science and education” and systematically carries out teaching reform and practice aimed at improving students’ understanding of knowledge and practical application ability. The overall reform strategy is as follows: it takes the design of research-based case studies from course content as the foundation, optimization of teaching methods as the driving force, extracurricular scientific research practice as the support, and a diversified assessment system as the guarantee, thereby constructing an integrated teaching model of “theoretical learning-case guidance-practical extension competency evaluation”. Based on a multidimensional analysis of teaching outcomes, the results show that this teaching reform has enhanced students’ understanding of theoretical knowledge, improved classroom participation, and strengthened their research practice ability to a certain extent, providing a useful practical reference for constructing an efficient and systematic teaching model for the “Cell Biology” course.
