Genetic Regulation of Hyphal Development in Candida albicans
Abstract The important opportunistic fungal pathogen Candida albicans exists in yeast, pseudohyphal and hyphal forms. Morphological transition from yeast to hyphae in C. albicans is regulated by a variety of cellular signal transduction pathways under different environmental conditions. This review focuses on recent research progress on major signal transduction pathways regulating the yeast to hyphae transition process in C. albicans. Key words Candida albicans; hyphal development; genetic regulation; MAPK; cAMP-PKA
